I’m currently setting up a shiny new 17″ MacBook Pro for one of the professors I’m working for (it’s going to be a very interesting summer with 3 part time jobs and 4 bosses!). Being that the University and NURC have licenses for a variety of software he uses that are PC licenses or are PC only software, we are installing Bootcamp + Parallels.
The initial bootcamp setup went without a hitch, until I got to the point of adding the Apple hardware specific drivers to Windows XP from the OSX install disk. Every time I would get a blue screen of death. Three times through and three BSODs (yeah I’m stubborn). I finally ejected the OSX Instal disk and slip it back into the sleeve when I noticed it was the install disk from some Mac Mini’s I was setting up for a different project. (It was out on the table already) Ooops.
Drivers for the Apple specific hardware would probably be specific to the different model of Apple computer. Sure enough when I used the install media that came with the new MacBook Pro it worked like a champ.
